Is eTwinning just for older pupils? No it isn’t! Even from the age of 4 you can incite curiosity and cultural awareness by setting up a project in which pupils (and their parents) get involved and get to practice the English they’ve learned so far…
That was the idea behind setting up the Mapping our puppets journey-project. My English friend and fellow eTwinning ambassador Kate Keaveny and I found two teachers in our schools who would love to work on a similar project. Jayne Sandford from All Saints primary school in Coalville (UK) and Fieke Schraeder from LW Beekman school in Den Bosch (NL) sent each other the mascottes of their classes, who would stay at their friends’ houses abroad.
The enthusiasm in which pupils and their parents shared their adventures with Sam the Bear from England and Jop from the Netherlands, both digitally (by using padlet) and in a diary, was fantastic. Pupils were keen to find out the adventures of their little friend in the other country.
