Hi everyone!

My name is Marco Segantini, I come from Milan, Italy. I actually did not grow up in Italy for most of my life but in Brussels. In Brussels, I went to a European school where I mostly spoke Italian and English. However, since the area of Brussels where I grew up is also French-speaking, I also learned to speak French fluently. This means that I speak French, Italian, English and Spanish. I am also learning Dutch, so it would be great to learn some Dutch during my year teaching in the Netherlands! During this year, I also hope to learn a lot about teaching in the Netherlands since I plan to complete a teacher’s degree after this year! I will teach one day per week at De Terp with Such Fun, two days at the Juliana van Stolberg primary school in Waalwijk, and one day at the Willem van Oranje high school in Waalwijk.

Before coming to Den Bosch I lived in the Netherlands 5 years already. I studied a bachelor’s in History, Philosophy, and Religion at University College Roosevelt in Middelburg and a Master’s in History at Leiden University. I would love to become a History high school/university teacher in the future. I have plenty of hobbies beyond teaching, from podcasting to reading to playing basketball. I love to cook and eat great food, and I hope to be able to integrate as many creative arts activities in the schools as possible (theatre, music, etc.). I look forward to learning and making my way through this year, hope to see you at De Terp soon!

Mi chiamo Marco Segantini, vengo da Milano. In realtà non sono cresciuto in Italia per la maggior parte della mia vita, ma a Bruxelles. A Bruxelles ho frequentato una scuola europea dove parlavo prevalentemente italiano e inglese. Tuttavia, poiché la zona di Bruxelles in cui sono cresciuto è anche francofona, ho imparato a parlare il francese. Ciò significa che parlo francese, italiano, inglese e spagnolo. Perlopiù, sto anche imparando l’olandese, quindi sarebbe fantastico imparare un po’ di olandese durante il mio anno di insegnamento nei Paesi Bassi! Durante questo anno, spero anche di imparare molto sull’insegnamento in Olanda, dato che ho intenzione di conseguire il diploma di insegnante dopo questo anno! Insegnerò un giorno alla settimana alla scuola De Terp con Such Fun, due giorni alla scuola elementare Juliana van Stolberg di Waalwijk e un giorno alla scuola superiore Willem van Oranje di Waalwijk.

Prima di arrivare a Den Bosch ho vissuto nei Paesi Bassi già 5 anni. Ho studiato una laurea in Storia, Filosofia e Religione all’University College Roosevelt di Middelburg e un Master in Storia all’Università di Leiden. Mi piacerebbe diventare un’insegnante di storia alle scuole superiori/università nel futuro. Ho molti hobby al di là dell’insegnamento, dal podcasting alla lettura alla pallacanestro. Mi piace cucinare e mangiare ottimo cibo e spero di poter integrare nelle scuole il maggior numero possibile di attività artistiche creative (teatro, musica, ecc.). Non vedo l’ora di imparare e di farmi strada quest’anno, spero di vedervi presto al De Terp!
