Jobshadowing in Portugal
From 11th to 16th May, three colleagues from ATO and six others from different Erasmus+ consortia (from Germany, Italy and Portugal) visited four schools in Porto and Guimarães. The English coordinators, the headteachers, English teachers and class teachers opened their hearts and souls to us when we visited the Agrupamento de Escolas do Cerco, Colégio Efanor, Colégio Júlio Dinis (Porto) and Colégio Do Ave (Guimarães). It was an incredibly inspiring week in which we learned a lot about each other’s and our own education, particularly about CLIL, inclusion, and ownership. It was amazing to see how much room there is for sports, arts, critical thinking, and English in the curricula. We were impressed by how parents and teachers collaborate and saw beautiful examples of parental participation in the school. Another great idea: teachers from parallel classes meet biweekly to develop projects and lessonplans together. It reduces workload and improves education! How about implementing this in your own region?
